When Red Man was first produced, it was made by the Pinkerton Tobacco company in Owensboro, Kentucky and is still made there. But in 1985, Pinkerton Toabcco was bought out by a Swedish company called Swedish Match which is the largest manufacturer of another oral tobacco product called “snus”. While the Pinkerton Tobacco company is still producing the Red Man brand is Owensboro and still uses the original recipes that they used before the buy out, It’s Swedish Match’s methods of advertising we have to thank for bringing this brand, which has been dubbed “America’s most recognizable brand”, back into the spotlight in America and to the attention of tobacco lovers through out the world. |
